Stretarez

Stretarez With 9 group winners like this in the string hopes are very high for the coming National Hunt season
The Winning Line is not a racing club as such – it is basically a betting syndicate however it has evolved by having a number of horses in training, (which have proved most successful) and by offering shares in those to members. Their current string comprises 10 horses and they are constantly seeking to add more horses – their goal for the next National Hunt season being to become the leading owners. With horses the quality of Teeton Mill and Stretarez included in the string it is obviously not a far fetched ambition.

They first tasted real success with General Wolfe, who is currently sidelined with a minor injury, but once back in training shares in him will be made available.

This is essentially a small, personal service. All ‘owners’ are called individually with news and information about their horses and further details are always available on their site – www.winningline.com which is regularly updated.

The level of financial involvement varies from horse to horse, but entails the purchase of 1/12th share in the chosen horse which is purchased at the outset. (For full details of the horses, shares available and price of shares please see the list following this introduction). The purchase price includes the horse's training and vet's fees for twelve months. Thereafter joint owners will be required to pay 1/12th of the horse’s training fees monthly – hopefully offset by winnings of course. Each ‘owner’ will be entitled  to 1/12th of their horse’s income which could eventually include stud fees as well as racecourse earnings (e.g. Stretarez). In addition, owners badges will also be provided and stable visits arranged. As Lester Piggott is joint owner of one of the horses it may also allow members the opportunity to meet him at the races.

The syndicate believes it has other benefits to offer any joint owner, namely the services of their own in-house handicapper, who has, amd will, prove invaluable in best placing each horse to ensure the maximum return from members' investments.

Shares are available in the following horses

  Stretarez – 5 –y-o bay horse – Saumarez – Street Opera. Trained by V.Williams.

Despite his victory in Chester’s G3 Ormonde stakes earlier this season, Stretarez’s long term aim remains the 1999Champion hurdle, as he was specifically purchased for a hurdling career. There are a number of options open for him on the Flat this season including the Irish St Leger and the Prix de l’arc de Triomphe. There are also a couple of races on the continent pencilled in for him that look well within his compass, and won’t take much winning. He will remain an entire and will eventually stand at stud.

Teeton Mill – 9-y-o grey gelding – Neltino – Celtic Wall. Trained by V.Williams

Winner of the first seven completed started and hunter chases, Teeton Mill is an exciting  prospect, and has already improved considerably since being moved to new trainer Venetia Williams. His biggest victory to date is the £13k Horse and Hound Cup, although next season he will be campaigned in handicap chases. An autumn campaign is a possibility, with Cheltenham’s Sporting Index Cross Country being his next likely target. The winner picks up £18,000, and a race of this sort should be well within his grasp.

leading hunters.

Ligne Gagnante – 2-y-o bay colt – Turtle Island – Lightino. Trained by W. Haggas

Owned in partnership with Lester Piggott, this unraced colt has a strong constitution, covers a lot of ground, and is extremely well regarded at home. He will be placed to win first time out, and should make his racecourse debut early in August. . Known in the yard as ‘Turtle’ – due to the striking resemblance he bears to his sire – he will be aimed at the top end of season 2 –y-o, and will hopefully make up into a nice Royal Ascot horse next season.

  Cost per share: £6,000

La Modiste – 5-y-o bay mare – Most Welcome – Dismiss. Trained by G.Kelleway

A game and genuine handicapper that will ultimately make a nice brood mare, La Modiste won in impressive style last time out when landing a Mail on Sunday Qualifier at Doncaster. Should she go on to be placed in another heat, and then win the final, a £250,000 bonus will be won – and it is our intention to campaign her to do just that. She stands a lot of racing, and is a tough and genuine sort that could conceivably step up to listed class.

  Shares available: 3

  Cost per share: £3,300

We have also recently purchased Racketball, who will remain in training with Nigel Twiston-Davies, and will be aimed at Sandown’s Imperial Cup and Cheltenham’s County Hurdle. A £100,000 bonus is paid for winning both races. (information on request).
