BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR THE PUREBRED SPANISH HORSE

1998 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP BREED SHOW CONT...

Yeguada Iberica also had a marvellous show which culminated in their triumph as Champion Breeders. The Best Stud Award is naturally a highly coveted prize amongst UK breeders since it is awarded by the Cria Caballar from Spain, for the best UK Purebred Spanish Horse stud. The Cria Caballar control the Spanish State Stud Book and the breeding and grading of Spanish horses throughout the world.

GRANERO IV

For this award marks are not allocated for quantity of horses entered or shown, but for the overall quality of the horses. As this is a stud award, only horses bred by each stud may be eligible and the marks of all horses shown by each stud are divided by the number of horses presented by the stud, to produce an average mark, which is taken into account alongside movement and handling.

The Stud had swept the board in the best foal class, the winner being Pirouetta, which, although owned by Jeanie Miles, was by the Stud s fine bay stallion Malabar and out of Enamcrada. Second was Mandadero and third Sirena, both owned by the Stud and by their grey Stallion, Granero IV.
Granero s stock were successful again later in the day in the Progeny Class. This is a class where three of the progeny of either one mare, or one stallion are judged together. There was a large entry for this class at the National Championship Show and this was won by Yeguada Iberica with the progeny of one of their stud stallions, Granero IV.

The group included Mandadero a grey 5 month old colt out of Moraleja and Octavio, a grey 13 month old colt out of Oretana II and Granera II, a grey 14 monthly filly out of Christera.

Best Movement - Mares and Youngstock

This was won by Yeguada Iberica s 2 year old bay filly Campera XIV.

Malabar

MALABAR

Earlier, Yeguada Iberica had been presented with a difficult decision, as five of their horses had won best movement in their classes and were eligible for the championship final. However they did not have enough handlers to take them all in to the ring at the same time, and so chose just three to enter. Campera did well to win this event, being only two years old and she looks to have a good future with the stud.
