"This is a water colour painting and unusually for Field Galleries we have reproduced it as one of our cards since the image seemed to suit that medium best.

Personally, I love frosty mornings especially when there is a mist which gradually disperses and a wintry sun breaks through. I have chosen to depict such a morning scene but focusing on some horses which are wintering 'out' and are enjoying their morning ration of hay.

I have tried to portray the mistiness especially with the big tree in the background which can only just be seen and to convey the frozen, rutted ground with its frosty covering and long shadows......this should be a familiar scene to most horse owners!"
